Dataset of resilience demonstrator behaviour under disturbances

Abstract

Description

This dataset contains experimental data resulting from a large-scale study of the behaviour of the resilience demonstrator under a wide range of disturbances. The resilience demonstrator is a test rig at the Chair of Fluid Systems that represents a generic water distribution system. Disturbance types considered in this study are "leakage", "blockage", "pump outage" and "changes in tank outflow", where the disturbance shapes and shape parameters were varied. The dataset was used as a basis for identifying a general-purpose model order for ARIMA models used by an algorithm for adaptive control in the paper ARMA Models for Monitoring and Adaptive Control of Water Distribution Systems, which was presented at the 4th International Joint Conference on Water Distribution Systems Analysis and Computing and Control in the Water Industry, held in Paphos in May 2026. Further details on the values of varied parameters can be found in the linked paper in Appendix C. The dataset contains hdf5 files for each disturbance case with data of 5 repetitions of the same case. It further contains a .zip-archive with JSON files containing information on the experiment configurations of each case. The JSON file parameter_mapping.json contains a mapping from the measured variables to the UUID of the sensor with which it was measured. Semantic digital data sheets for sensors, valves and pumps can be found under https://git.rwth-aachen.de/fst-tuda/public/metadata/fst_measurement_equipment/<UUID>, https://git.rwth-aachen.de/fst-tuda/public/metadata/fst_valves/<UUID> and https://git.rwth-aachen.de/fst-tuda/public/metadata/fst_pumps/<UUID> respectively.
