Supporting Information for "Unexpectedly Strong Electrostatic Screening in Nano-Ion Solutions"

Abstract

Description

This dataset contains the experimental data supporting the publication "Unexpectedly Strong Electrostatic Screening in Nano-Ion Solutions". The underlying research investigates the electrostatic screening behavior in complex electrolyte systems, specifically focusing on polyoxometalate (Keggin) nano-ion solutions. The data were acquired using advanced physicochemical characterization techniques: (1) Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) - Used for topographic imaging of the substrates (beads) and for extensive force spectroscopy measurements (Colloid Probe AFM) to capture approach and retraction force-distance profiles. (2) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) - Used for high-resolution imaging of the top colloid probes across multiple magnifications to characterize probe geometry and surface quality. To access the data, the following requirements must be met: (1) AFM Data - Raw files are provided in Igor Binary Wave (.ibw) format, which requires WaveMetrics Igor Pro or compatible open-source Python libraries (e.g., igor, igorpy or wio) for extraction. Processed data is available in standard plaintext (.txt) and Portable Network Graphics (.png) formats. (2) SEM Data - Images are stored in standard Tagged Image File Format (.tiff), viewable with any standard image processing software. Metadata are available in standard plaintext (.txt) format.
