Description
The Experimental images folder contains one sample run for each experiment. The names of the subfolders in this folder represent the liquid and the solid substrate used. For example, 50G means the 50% liquid on the grounded substrate (more details on this terminology can be found in the main text). The raw recorded images are cropped to facilitate subsequent evaluation using ImageJ. An in-house MATLAB script (under ...\cropped\eval_new_eachline.m) is then used to determine the evolution of the minimum width of the liquid bridge. This MATLAB script relies on an edge detection algorithm available at: https://de.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/48908-accurate-subpixel-edge-location .
The pixel size is the same for every experiment and is roughly 1.567 microns/pixel. The sampling rate is different for each experiment and can be found in the corresponding .m file. The MATLAB script requires a quantity x_mid which represents the location of the symmetry axis and is determined manually using ImageJ.
The Fig3a_and_3b folder contains experimental data for the evolution of the minimum width, along with the corresponding B-spline fits. The naming convention described above also applies here. The "±" column represents the standard deviation obtained from at least four experimental runs, and the names of other quantities are self-explanatory.
The Fig4 folder is self-explanatory.
