COUNCIL ACT of 12 March 1999 drawing up, on the basis of Article K.3 of the Treaty on European Union, the Protocol on the scope of the laundering of proceeds in the Convention on the use of information technology for customs purposes and the inclusion of the registration number of the means of transport in the Convention (1999/C 91/01)

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article K.3(2)(c) thereof,

WHEREAS in the interests of uniformity of the existing acts for customs cooperation purposes and of intensifying the fight against organised crime it is necessary to widen the scope of the laundering of proceeds and to include category 'registration number of the means of transport` in the data categories;

HAVING DECIDED that the Protocol, the text of which is given in the Annex and which has been signed today by the representatives of the Governments of the Member States of the Union, is hereby drawn up;

RECOMMENDS

that it be adopted by the Member States in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements.
