RESOLUTION OF THE ECSC CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE concerning appropriate steel market observation (95/C 40/02)
(Text with EEA relevance)
(unanimously adopted at the 318th Session of 16 December 1994, less one abstention)
THE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE OF THE EUROPEAN COAL AND STEEL COMMUNITY,
- taking note of the Commission Decision to suppress the quarterly guidelines drawn up since the second quarter of 1993 and within which the companies are invited to inform the Commission on the manner 'they intend to conform to the overall trends for production and deliveries on Community markets, communicated individually for the products of their production range`,
- recalling that in its conclusions, the Council on 8 November 'invited the Commission to continue to pay close attention to the development of the situation and to prepare appropriate measures in accordance with the prevailing market situation` and 'to report regularly to the Council on the development in this sector as well as on the measures it (the Commission) intends to take`,
- considering that the overall half-yearly indications of the foreward programme steel, based on crude steel balance, are not sufficient to give clarity on the prevailing market situation,
- invites the Commission to set up quarterly forecasts in cooperation with all parties involved in the Community steel market,
- requests that this analysis - in order to meet the request of the Council and to be of an effective use to all active participants in the market - be made on a quarterly basis and by product.
