amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 158/2002 of 6 December 2002(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2001/897/EC of 12 December 2001 setting out the arrangements for Community comparative trials and tests on seeds and propagating material of certain plants under Council Directives 66/400/EEC, 66/401/EEC, 66/402/EEC, 66/403/EEC, 68/193/EEC, 69/208/EEC, 70/458/EEC and 92/33/EEC(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 2002/280/EC of 15 April 2002 amending Decision 98/320/EC on the organisation of a temporary experiment on seed sampling and seed testing pursuant to Council Directives 66/400/EEC, 66/401/EEC, 66/402/EEC and 69/208/EEC(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) Commission Decision 2002/454/EC of 12 June 2002 on a temporary experiment with regard to increasing the maximum weight of a lot of certain fodder plant seeds under Council Directive 66/401/EEC(4) is to be incorporated into the Agreement,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Part 2 of Chapter III of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. the following shall be added in point 15 (Commission Decision 98/320/EC):

", as amended by:

- 32002 D 0280: Commission Decision 2002/280/EC of 15 April 2002 (OJ L 99, 16.4.2002, p. 22)";

2. the following points shall be inserted after point 18 (Commission Regulation (EC) No 930/2000):

"19. 32001 D 0897: Commission Decision 2001/897/EC of 12 December 2001 setting out the arrangements for Community comparative trials and tests on seeds and propagating material of certain plants under Council Directives 66/400/EEC, 66/401/EEC, 66/402/EEC, 66/403/EEC, 68/193/EEC, 69/208/EEC, 70/458/EEC and 92/33/EEC (OJ L 331, 15.12.2001, p. 97).

The provisions of the Decision shall, for the purposes of the present Agreement, be read with the following adaptation:

References to other acts in the Decision shall be considered relevant to the extent and in the form that those acts are incorporated into the Agreement;

20. 32002 D 0454: Commission Decision 2002/454/EC of 12 June 2002 on a temporary experiment with regard to increasing the maximum weight of a lot of certain fodder plant seeds under Council Directive 66/401/EEC (OJ L 155, 14.6.2002, p. 57)."

Article 2

The texts of Decisions 2001/897/EC, 2002/280/EC and 2002/454/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 1 February 2003, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(5).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
