amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 78/2002 of 25 June 2002(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2001/783/EC of 9 November 2001 on protection and surveillance zones in relation to bluetongue, and on rules applicable to movements of animals in and from those zones(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 2001/847/EC of 30 November 2001 amending for the third time Decision 2000/721/EC to modify the Italian avian influenza vaccination programme and current trade restrictions for fresh meat originating from vaccinated turkeys(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. The following subheading shall be inserted after point 9 (Council Directive 92/119/EEC) in part 3.1:

"Bluetongue"

2. The following indent shall be added in point 15 (Commission Decision 2000/721/EC) in part 3.2:

"- 32001 D 0847: Commission Decision 2001/847/EC of 30 November 2001 (OJ L 315, 1.12.2001, p. 61)."

3. The following point shall be inserted after point 21 (Commission Decision 2001/303/EC) in part 3.2:

"22. 32001 D 0783: Commission Decision 2001/783/EC of 9 November 2001 on protection and surveillance zones in relation to bluetongue, and on rules applicable to movements of animals in and from those zones (OJ L 293, 10.11.2001, p. 42)."

Article 2

The texts of Decisions 2001/783/EC and 2001/847/EC in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 28 September 2002, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(4).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
