amending Annex XIII (Transport) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex XIII to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 56/2002 of the EEA Joint Committee of 31 May 2002(1).

(2) Decision No 1346/2001/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2001 amending Decision No 1692/96/EC as regards seaports, inland ports and intermodal terminals as well as project No 8 in Annex III(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

1. Point 5 (Decision No 1692/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Annex XIII to the Agreement shall be amended as follows,

(a) the following shall be added:

", as amended by:

- 32001 D 1346: Decision No 1346/2001/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2001 (OJ L 185, 6.7.2001, p. 1).";

(b) the following adaptations shall be inserted after adaptation (j):

"(ja) in section 5 (Seaports) of Annex I to the Decision, the following shall be added and illustrated by the maps as set out in Appendix 1 to this Annex:

'5.6. Iceland

5.7. Norway';

".

2. In Appendix 1 to Annex XIII to the Agreement the words "(see adaptations (i), (j) and (k) in point 5 of Annex XIII to the Agreement)" shall be replaced by the words "(see adaptations (i), (j), (ja) and (k) in point 5 of Annex XIII to the Agreement)".

3. The maps referred to in adaptation (ja) inserted by 1 (b) above are contained in the Annex to the present Decision, and shall be inserted in Appendix 1 to Annex XIII to the Agreement after the map "3.16" relating to Norway.

Article 2

The texts of Decision No 1346/2001/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 13 July 2002, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(3).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
