amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 149/2001 of 11 December 2001(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2001/298/EC of 30 March 2001 amending the Annexes to Council Directives 64/432/EEC, 90/426/EEC, 91/68/EEC and 92/65/EEC and to Commission Decision 94/273/EC as regards the protection of animals during transport(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Directive 2001/10/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2001 amending Council Directive 91/68/EEC as regards scrapie(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. In Part 4.1, the following indent shall be added in points 1 (Council Directive 64/432/EEC), 2 (Council Directive 91/68/EEC), 3 (Council Directive 90/426/EEC) and 9 (Council Directive 92/65/EEC):

"- 32001 D 0298: Commission Decision 2001/298/EC of 30 March 2001 (OJ L 102, 12.04.2001, p. 63)."

2. In Part 4.1, the following indent shall be added in point 2 (Council Directive 91/68/EEC):

"- 32001 L 0010: Directive 2001/10/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2001 (OJ L 147, 31.5.2001, p. 41)."

3. In part 4.2, the following shall be added in point 20 (Commission Decision 94/273/EC):

", as amended by:

- 32001 D 0298: Commission Decision 2001/298/EC of 30 March 2001 (OJ L 102, 12.4.2001, p. 63)."

Article 2

The texts of Decision 2001/298/EC and Directive 2001/10/EC in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 26 June 2002, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(4).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
