amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 149/2001 of 11 December 2001(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2001/288/EC of 3 April 2001 amending Council Directive 93/53/EEC introducing minimum Community measures for the control of certain fish diseases, in relation to the list of national reference laboratories for fish diseases(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 2001/293/EC of 30 March 2001 amending Council Directive 95/70/EC introducing minimum Community measures for the control of certain diseases affecting bivalve molluscs, in relation to the list of national reference laboratories for diseases of bivalve molluscs(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) This Decision is not to apply to Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Part 3.1 of Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. The following indent shall be added in point 7 (Council Directive 93/53/EEC):

"- 32001 D 0288: Commission Decision 2001/288/EC of 3 April 2001 (OJ L 99, 10.4.2001, p. 11)."

2. The following shall be added in point 8 (Council Directive 95/70/EC):

", as amended by:

- 32001 D 0293: Commission Decision 2001/293/EC of 30 March 2001 (OJ L 100, 11.4.2001, p. 30)."

Article 2

The texts of Decisions 2001/288/EC and 2001/293/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 26 June 2002, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(4).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
