amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 131/2001 of the EEA Joint Committee of 23 November 2001(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2000/497/EC of 18 July 2000 amending Decision 97/778/EC and updating the list of border inspection posts approved for veterinary checks(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 2000/501/EC of 25 July 2000 amending Decision 97/778/EC and updating the list of border inspection posts approved for veterinary checks(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) Commission Decision 2000/571/EC of 8 September 2000 laying down the methods of veterinary checks for products from third countries destined for introduction into free zones, free warehouses, customs warehouses or operators supplying cross border means of sea transport(4) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(5) Commission Decision 2000/583/EC of 27 September 2000 amending Decision 94/360/EC on the reduced frequency of physical checks of consignments of certain products to be imported from third countries, under Council Directive 90/675/EEC(5) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(6) Commission Decision 2000/622/EC of 29 September 2000 amending Decision 97/778/EC and updating the list of border inspection posts approved for veterinary checks(6) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(7) This Decision is not to apply to Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Part 1.2 of Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. The following indent shall be added in point 25 (Commission Decision 94/360/EC):

"- 32000 D 0583: Commission Decision 2000/583/EC of 27 September 2000 (OJ L 246, 30.9.2000, p. 67)."

2. The following indents shall be added in point 39 (Commission Decision 97/778/EC):

"- 32000 D 0497: Commission Decision 2000/497/EC of 18 July 2000 (OJ L 200, 8.8.2000, p. 41),

- 32000 D 0501: Commission Decision 2000/501/EC of 25 July 2000 (OJ L 200, 8.8.2000, p. 61),

- 32000 D 0622: Commission Decision 2000/622/EC of 29 September 2000 (OJ L 260, 14.10.2000, p. 51)."

3. The following point shall be inserted after point 105 (Commission Decision 2000/598/EC):

"106. 32000 D 0571: Commission Decision 2000/571/EC of 8 September 2000 laying down the methods of veterinary checks for products from third countries destined for introduction into free zones, free warehouses, customs warehouses or operators supplying cross border means of sea transport (OJ L 240, 23.9.2000, p. 14).

This act applies also to Iceland for the areas covered by the specific acts to which reference is made in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part."

Article 2

The texts of Decisions 2000/497/EC, 2000/501/EC, 2000/571/EC, 2000/583/EC and 2000/622/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 12 December 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(7).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
