amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 131/2001 of the EEA Joint Committee of 23 November 2001(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2000/485/EC of 18 July 2000 amending Decision 2000/350/EC on epidemiological surveillance of bluetongue in Greece and certain measures to prevent the spread of the disease(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Regulation (EC) No 1898/2000 of 7 September 2000 amending Regulation (EC) No 2630/97 as regards the model for reporting the annual controls foreseen by Article 5(1) of that Regulation(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) Commission Decision 2000/598/EC of 3 October 2000 concerning certain protection measures against bluetongue in Sardinia, Italy(4) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(5) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Part 1.2 of Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. The following indent shall be added in point 72 (Commission Regulation (EC) No 2630/97):

"- 32000 R 1898: Commission Regulation (EC) No 1898/2000 of 7 September 2000 (OJ L 228, 8.9.2000, p. 22)."

2. The following shall be added in point 103 (Commission Decision 2000/350/EC):

", as amended by:

- 32000 D 0485: Commission Decision 2000/485/EC of 18 July 2000 (OJ L 195, 1.8.2000, p. 58)."

3. The following point shall be inserted after point 104 (Commission Decision 2000/351/EC):

"105. 32000 D 0598: Commission Decision 2000/598/EC of 3 October 2000 concerning certain protection measures against bluetongue in Sardinia, Italy (OJ L 253, 7.10.2000, p. 47)."

Article 2

The texts of Decisions 2000/485/EC, 2000/598/EC and Regulation (EC) No 1898/2000 in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 12 December 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(5).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
