amending Annex IX (financial services) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex IX to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 45/2001 of the Joint Committee of the EEA of 30 March 2001(1).

(2) Directive 2000/64/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 November 2000 amending Council Directives 85/611/EEC, 92/49/EEC, 92/96/EEC and 93/22/EEC as regards exchange of information with third countries(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

The following indent shall be added in points 7a (Council Directive 92/49/EEC), 12a (Council Directive 92/96/EEC), 30 (Council Directive 85/611/EEC) and 30b (Council Directive 93/22/EEC) of Annex IX to the Agreement, before the adaptation texts: "- 32000 L 0064: Directive 2000/64/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 November 2000 (OJ L 290, 17.11.2000, p. 27)."

Article 2

The texts of Directive 2000/64/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 20 June 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(3).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
