amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 189/1999 of 17 December 1999(1).

(2) 9 acts regarding control matters, 2 acts regarding control measures - notification of disease -, 5 acts regarding animal health - exchange and placing on the market of live animals - and 1 act regarding measures relating to many sectors are to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified in the Annex to this Decision.

Article 2

The texts of Commission Decisions 98/580/EC(2), 1999/317/EC(3), 1999/335/EC(4), 1999/375/EC(5), 1999/376/EC(6), 1999/377/EC(7), 1999/465/EC(8), 1999/466/EC(9), 1999/467/EC(10), 1999/520/EC(11), 1999/546/EC(12), 1999/693/EC(13), 1999/696/EC(14), 2000/60/EC(15), 2000/62/EC(16), 2000/69/EC(17) and 2000/113/EC(18) in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 31 March 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(19).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.

ANNEX

to Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 41/2001

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified below.

1. The following shall be added in point 2 (Commission Decision 98/589/EC) in Part 1.2 under the heading "Acts of which the EFTA states and the EFTA surveillance authority shall take due account":

5. The text of point 45 (Commission Decision 97/76/EC) in Part 4.2 shall be replaced by the following:

6. The text of point 46 (Commission Decision 97/175/EC) in Part 4.2 shall be replaced by the following:

8. The following point shall be inserted after point 37 (Commission Decision 98/496/EC) in Part 7.2 under the heading "Acts of which the EFTA states and the EFTA surveillance authority shall take due account":
