amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 189/1999 of the EEA Joint Committee of 17 December 1999(1).

(2) Sixteen acts regarding imports from third countries in the field of veterinary issues are to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified in the Annex to this Decision.

Article 2

The texts of Commission Decisions 1999/120/EC(2), 1999/220/EC(3), 1999/263/EC(4), 1999/336/EC(5), 1999/343/EC(6), 1999/344/EC(7), 1999/697/EC(8), 1999/710/EC(9), 1999/757/EC(10), 2000/76/EC(11), 2000/78/EC(12), 2000/79/EC(13), 2000/80/EC(14), 2000/212/EC(15), 2000/252/EC(16) and 2000/253/EC(17) in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 31 March 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(18).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified below.

1. The following indent shall be added in point 19 (Commission Decision 87/257/EEC) in Part 8.3.1:
