of 30 March 2001

amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 189/1999 of 17 December 1999(1).

(2) Commission Decision 97/628/EC of 28 July 1997 amending Decision 93/70/EEC on codification for the message "Animo"(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 98/168/EC of 17 February 1998 amending Decision 93/70/EEC on codification for the message "Animo" to include certain types of mammalian waste products(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) Commission Decision 1999/874/EC of 10 December 1999 amending Decision 93/70/EEC on codification for the message "Animo" to include certain types of processed mammalian protein(4) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(5) Commission Decision 2000/25/EC of 16 December 1999 establishing the detailed rules for the application of Article 9 of Council Directive 97/78/EC concerning the transhipment of products at a Border Inspection Post where the consignments are intended for eventual import into the European Community, and amending Commission Decision 93/14/EEC(5) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(6) Commission Decision 2000/208/EC of 24 February 2000 establishing detailed rules for the application of Council Directive 97/78/EC concerning the transit of products of animal origin from one third country to another third country by road only across the European Community(6) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(7) This Decision is not to apply to Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

The following shall be added in point 17 (Commission Decision 93/14/EEC) in Part 1.2 of Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement:

", as amended by:

- 32000 D 0025: Commission Decision 2000/25/EC of 16 December 1999 (OJ L 9, 13.1.2000, p. 27)."

Article 2

The following indents shall be added in point 18 (Commission Decision 93/70/EEC) in Part 1.2 of Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement:

"- 397 D 0628: Commission Decision 97/628/EC of 28 July 1997 (OJ L 261, 23.9.1997, p. 1),

- 398 D 0168: Commission Decision 98/168/EC of 17 February 1998 (OJ L 62, 3.3.1998, p. 37),

- 399 D 0874: Commission Decision 1999/874/EC of 10 December 1999 (OJ L 340, 31.12.1999, p. 109)."

Article 3

The following points shall be inserted after point 86 (Commission Decision 98/653/EC) in Part 1.2 of Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement:

"87. 32000 D 0025: Commission Decision 2000/25/EC of 16 December 1999 establishing the detailed rules for the application of Article 9 of Council Directive 97/78/EC concerning the transhipment of products at a Border Inspection Post where the consignments are intended for eventual import into the European Community, and amending Commission Decision 93/14/EEC (OJ L 9, 13.1.2000, p. 27).

This act applies also to Iceland for the areas covered by the specific acts to which reference is made in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part.

88. 32000 D 0208: Commission Decision 2000/208/EC of 24 February 2000 establishing detailed rules for the application of Council Directive 97/78/EC concerning the transit of products of animal origin from one third country to another third country by road only across the European Community (OJ L 64, 11.3.2000, p. 20).

This act applies also to Iceland for the areas covered by the specific acts to which reference is made in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part."

Article 4

The texts of Commission Decisions 97/628/EC, 98/168/EC, 1999/874/EC, 2000/25/EC and 2000/208/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 5

This Decision shall enter into force on 31 March 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(7).

Article 6

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
