amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex II to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 64/1999 of the EEA Joint Committee of 28 May 1999(1).

(2) Twenty-fifth Commission Directive 2000/11/EC of 10 March 2000 adapting to technical progress Annex II to Council Directive 76/768/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to cosmetic products(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Directive 2000/41/EC of 19 June 2000 postponing for a second time the date after which animal tests are prohibited for ingredients or combinations of ingredients of cosmetic products(3) is to incorporated into the Agreement,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

The following indent shall be added in point 1 (Council Directive 76/768/EEC) in Chapter XVI of Annex II to the Agreement: "- 32000 L 0011: Twenty-fifth Commission Directive 2000/11/EC of 10 March 2000 (OJ L 65, 14.3.2000, p. 22)."

Article 2

The following point shall be inserted after point 10 (Commission Decision 96/335/EC) in Chapter XVI of Annex II to the Agreement: "11. 32000 L 0041: Commission Directive 2000/41/EC of 19 June 2000 postponing for a second time the date after which animal tests are prohibited for ingredients or combinations of ingredients of cosmetic products (OJ L 145, 20.6.2000, p. 25)."

Article 3

The texts of Directives 2000/11/EC and 2000/41/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 4

This Decision shall enter into force on 24 February 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(4).

Article 5

This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
