amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex II to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 105/2000 of the EEA Joint Committee of 30 November 2000(1).

(2) Directive 2000/25/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2000 on action to be taken against the emission of gaseous and particulate pollutants by engines intended to power agricultural and forestry tractors and amending Council Directive 74/150/EEC(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) The adaptations to Council Directive 74/150/EEC of 4 March 1974 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the type-approval of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors(3) made by Chapter XI of Annex I to the Act concerning the conditions of the accession of the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden and the adjustments to the Treaties on which the European Union is founded(4) are to be incorporated into the Agreement,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Point 1 (Council Directive 74/150/EEC) in Chapter II of Annex II to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

1. The following indents shall be added: "- 1 94 N: Act concerning the conditions of accession of the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden and the adjustments of the Treaties on which the European Union is founded (OJ C 241, 29.8.1994, p. 21 as adjusted by OJ L 1, 1.1.1995, p. 1),

- 32000 L 0025: Directive 2000/25/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2000 (OJ L 173, 12.7.2000, p. 1)."

2. Before the adaptation, the letter "(a)" shall be inserted.

3. The following adaptation shall be added: "(b) In Annex I, the following shall be added to Appendix 4, point 1, section 1: 'IS for Iceland

FL for Liechtenstein

16 for Norway'.

"

Article 2

The texts of Directive 2000/25/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 24 February 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(5).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
