AGREEMENT in the form of an Exchange of Letters between the European Community and the Republic of Lithuania on maritime transport

A. Letter from the Community

Sir,

We would be grateful if you would confirm that your Government agrees with the following:

When the Free Trade Agreement between the European Communities and Lithuania was signed, the Parties undertook to address in the appropriate manner, issues relating to the operation of shipping, particularly where the development of trade might be hindered. Mutually satisfactory solutions on shipping will be sought while the principle of free and fair competition on a commercial basis is observed.

It has likewise been agreed that such issues should also be discussed by the Association Council.

Please accept, Sir, the assurance of our highest consideration.

On behalf of the Council of the European Union
