EXCHANGE OF LETTERS between the European Economic Community and the Republic of Turkey concerning Article 3 (3) of Decision No 1/80 of the Association Council

Brussels, 20 January 1981

Sir,

Pursuant to Article 3 (3) of Decision No 1/80 of the Association Council, I have the honour to inform you that the quantities and seasonal timetables involved in the tariff reductions provided for in paragraph 1 of the said Article are as follows: 1. For the following products, the abolition of customs duties shall apply to importsinto the Community during the periods indicated below: >PIC FILE= "T0020205">

2. For the following products, the abolition of customs duties shall apply within thelimits of the annual Community tariff quotas set out below: >PIC FILE= "T0020207">

3. For tomatoes prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acidfalling within subheading 20.02 C of the Common Customs Tariff, the abolition ofcustoms duties shall apply to an annual quantity of 16 500 tonnes on conditionthat the Turkish Government undertakes to take all the necessary measures toensure that the quantities supplied to the Community do not exceed that figure.Mutual clarifications concerning the conditions governing imports into theCommunity and guarantees relating to quantities shall be arranged between theDirectorate-General for European Economic Community Affairs of the Ministryfor Trade of the Republic of Turkey and the Directorate-General for Agricultureof the Commission of the European Communities.

4. The detailed rules for implementing Article 3 (3) of Decision No 1/80 of the AssociationCouncil which form the subject of this letter shall apply until the entry intoforce of a further exchange of letters.

I should be grateful if you would kindly confirm your Government's agreement with the foregoing.

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of today's date which reads as follows:

"Pursuant to Article 3 (3) of Decision No 1/80 of the Association Council, I have the honour to inform you that the quantities and seasonal timetables involved in the tariff reductions provided for in paragraph 1 of the said Article are as follows: 1. For the following products, the abolition of customs duties shall apply toimports into the Community during the periods indicated below: >PIC FILE= "T0020208">

2. For the following products, the abolition of customs duties shall apply withinthe limits of the annual Community tariff quotas set out below: >PIC FILE= "T0020210">

3. For tomatoes prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acidfalling within subheading 20.02 C of the Common Customs Tariff, the abolitionof customs duties shall apply to an annual quantity of 16 500 tonnes oncondition that the Turkish Government undertakes to take all the necessarymeasures to ensure that the quantities supplied to the Community do notexceed that figure. Mutual clarifications concerning the conditions governingimports into the Community and guarantees relating to quantities shall bearranged between the Directorate-General for European Economic CommunityAffairs of the Ministry for Trade of the Republic of Turkey and theDirectorate-General for Agriculture of the Commission of the EuropeanCommunities.

4. The detailed rules for implementing Article 3 (3) of Decision No 1/80 of theAssociation Council which form the subject of this letter shall apply until theentry into force of a further exchange of letters.

I should be grateful if you would kindly confirm your Government's agreement with the foregoing."
