Description of the available data experimental_results.csv This file contains the condensed results of experiments conducted with laboratory generated snowflakes. The snowflakes were produced in a chest freezer and melted in forced convection in an acoustic levitator. The file includes the properties of the snowflakes, the experimental conditions and the duration of melting. The header contains the the name of the variable as well as its unit. The particle width is defined as the Feret diameter, which is perpendicular to the maximum Feret diameter of the particle. geometric_descriptors.zip The files contained in this archive specify the evolution of various geometric descriptors during the melting of the corresponding snowflakes. The definition of the particle width is the same as in the file described above. The major and minor axes refer to an ellipse with the same normalized second central moments as the projection. The Cox roundness is defined as 4*pi*area/perimeter^2, which gives a measure for the roundness of the particle. exemplary_video.mp4 This video shows an exemplary melting process of a snowflake.
